Freshmen Students Pledge to ‘Believe in You’

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The freshmen at Twiggs County High School are getting a head start on their future.

Sixty-eight students signed the pledge agreement for the Heriff Jones Believe in You program stating they would finish graduation.

The official ceremony was held on Monday, but students and teachers are welcome to sign their name to the year-long agreement all week. 

Principal James Paulk says, “We want to walk them, through the steps, to see how important it is to see that cap and gown on.”

Paulk wants to decrease high school drop outs in Twiggs County, and believes holding each indiviual accountable will bring success in numbers at graduation.

“No matter where we’re from-geographically-we can reach the world from here,” Paulk says.

Junior ROTC Sergeant Deborah Jamison says, “If we educate, they will graduate, and that’s our roll. We’re going to make sure that we get all of them across the finish line.”

Paulk plans to continue developing new programs for the kids, and says each of the students are at risk of being successful.
