Free Seedlings to celebrate Arbor Day

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A local organization celebrated Arbor Day Saturday with a tree giveaway.

Members of Keep Warner Robins Beautiful gave away Dogwood and Redbud seedlings at the Booth Road Walmart, greeting shoppers and urging them to plant trees in recognition of Arbor Day.

The group believes the free seedlings will remind people about the benefits of trees, according to Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Executive Director, Debra Jones.

“We’re here with our youth advisory board,” says Jones. “These are our young people. You have to be at least fifth grade and up to a senior in high school. Even some college students come out and help us.”

Jones added it is important to teach young people about nature.

“It’s so amazing and we all have such a great time giving away all these bits and pieces of nature,” says Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Youth Advisory Board Member, Andrew Han.

Arbor Day will be observed as a national holiday April 24.

Keep Warner Robins Beautiful is hosting various projects throughout the year.
