MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is giving away free NOAA weather radios at City Hall on Friday, March 14 to help residents prepare for the severe weather expected this weekend.
According to Macon-Bibb EMA, the radios will provide instant alerts from the National Weather Service, helping people stay informed even if power goes out.
“With severe weather on the way, now is the time to make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts—and a weather radio is one of the best!” Macon-Bibb EMA said in a Facebook post.
The giveaway, set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., comes ahead of a forecasted storm system expected to impact Middle Georgia from Saturday into Sunday. Officials urge residents to have multiple ways to receive alerts, including a weather radio.
“Spread the word and stay weather-aware!” the post added.
City Hall is located at 700 Poplar Street.
