FPD becomes only private school in Georgia to win 2015 National Blue Ribbon for High Performance Award

Macon, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – First Presbyterian Day School’s elementary school received a special honor this week.

The private school, located in Macon, has won a 2015 National Blue Ribbon for High Performance award. The accolade is handed out by the U.S. Department of Education, and given to schools that have performed in the top 15% nationally on standardized tests in regards to both math and reading comprehension.

“As a school, and as educators, we’re always looking for opportunities to improve,” said FPD elementary school principal Wade Putnal, “There’s always ways for us to grow, always ways for us to learn… we take that as a challenge and it helps us grow and be better.”

FPD is the only private school in the state of Georgia to receive the recognition, and only one of 50 private schools in the entire country.

However, this isn’t the first time the school has been awarded a Blue Ribbon. The elementary school previously received the award in 2003, while the FPD’s middle school was honored in 2012.
