Fort Valley Sexual Assault Task Force investigating two more rapes

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Bureau of Investigations is looking into two rapes that happened over the weekend.

The GBI is releasing very few details about the Fort Valley sexual assaults.

One sexual assault happened on Sunday and the other on Monday, according to GBI Special Agent in Charge J.T. Ricketson.

Fort Valley State University students were notified about an off-campus burglary and assault around noon Tuesday.

“We got a serious offender that is assaulting women that we have got to stop,” said Ricketson. “That’s why we are dedicating so many resources to stop this. We want people to be cautious about this predator that is out there.”

Ricketson says the GBI has brought in a crime scene specialist and a intelligent analysis to track down leads. He added they are working ”extended hours” on the serial rapist case.

GBI agents are part of the Fort Valley Sexual Assault Task Force investigating the rapes. They are working to determine if the weekend sexual assaults are connected to the serial rapes that have occurred in the past few months.

“It’s too early in our investigation to say,” explained Ricketson. “ We have agents, investigators, detectives and officers gathering evidence and working leads.”

Anyone with information about the burglary and assaults is asked to call the Fort Valley Police Department at (478) 825-3383.
