UPDATE: Man arrested for shooting death in Fort Valley

UPDATE: Fort Valley Police have arrested a man for the shooting death of 44-year-old Kevin Neal.

According to a department news release, 20-year-old Trayvon Thomas, of Fort Valley, was taken into custody. He’s charged with felony murder and violation of the Georgia Street Gang and Terrorism Act. Thomas is being held in the Peach County Law Enforcement Center.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Fort Valley man is dead after a shooting Thursday night.

It happened just before 6:45 p.m. at 210 Rayfield Wright Street, according to a news release from Fort Valley Police.

Upon arriving, officers found the victim, identified as 44-year-old Kevin Neal AKA “Batman”, shot in the upper torso.

The release said officers began to render aid and secure the crime scene. Neal was declared dead on scene.

“Detectives from the Fort Valley Police Department are being assisted by the GBI, FVSU Police Department, Peach County Sheriff’s Office, and the Peach County Drug Enforcement Unit,” Chief Lawrence Spurgeon said. “The investigation is ongoing at this time.”
