UPDATE: Funeral services announced for Fort Valley Fire Chief Antonio Woodard
Fort Valley Fire Chief Antonio Woodard died at his home in Fort Valley, according to a city news release.

UPDATE (7/14/25): The funeral service for longtime Fire Chief Antonio Woodard will be held Tuesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. at Faith Babies Ministries Church Of God By Faith (1000 Tulip Dr, Fort Valley), with burial to follow at Willow Lake Memorial Gardens (1854 Willow Lake Road).
FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fort Valley Fire Chief Antonio Woodard died at his home in Fort Valley, according to a city news release.
Coroner Kerry Rooks tells 41NBC Woodard was found dead on Monday. He was 48 years old.
Woodard served the community for more than 20 years, leading the fire department with what a city news release described as “honor, courage, and unwavering dedication.”
“Chief Antonio Woodard was more than a leader,” the release said. “He was a mentor, a protector, a pillar of strength for the fire department and the entire city.”
Mayor Jeffery Lundy called Woodard a “true hero.”
“His leadership, compassion, and bravery have left an indelible mark on our city,” Lundy said. “We are forever grateful for his service and mourn his loss deeply.”
The city said funeral arrangements and public memorial details will be announced as they become available.
