Fort Hawkins Ocmulgee Celebration

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Every year during The Indian Celebration at The Ocmulgee Monument, Fort Hawkins hosts an open house for people to come and learn about Middle Georgia’s contribution to American History.

Because of the addition of the new visitor’s center, people were able to experience much more this year.

“This new little log cabin visitors center is a way for us to tell the Fort story better than it’s ever been told before,” said Fort Hawkins Project Coordinator, Marty Willett.

Some of the special exhibits this weekend included a life size Red Stick Warrior and an original art piece of The Fort Mims Massacre.
