Forsyth man indicted on multiple charges related to child exploitation

A Monroe County grand jury indicted Kelly Garrett Ivey this month on 17 counts, including computer pornography, obscene internet contact with a child and multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to an indictment filed in Monroe County Superior Court.

UPDATE (2/26/25): A newly obtained indictment from Jasper County provides additional details on the charges against Kelly Garrett Ivey. According to documents, Ivey used a dark web marketplace called “Slave Bay” to advertise information about a minor.

Prosecutors say he tried to solicit people online to kidnap, rape and traffic a child, offering financial compensation in return. The indictment also says Ivey sought to have the victim sold for sex trafficking.

The Jasper County indictment includes one count of cruelty to children in the first degree, two counts of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude and eight counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Prosecutors allege that Ivey not only tried to set up the kidnapping and sexual abuse of a child but also provided personal information, including a home address and photos, on an encrypted chat platform.

According to the indictment, Ivey also made financial transactions during these crimes.

The case remains active.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Forsyth man has been indicted in Monroe and Jasper counties on multiple charges related to child exploitation and human trafficking, according to court documents and law enforcement officials.

A Monroe County grand jury indicted Kelly Garrett Ivey this month on 17 counts, including computer pornography, obscene internet contact with a child and multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to an indictment filed in Monroe County Superior Court. The charges stem from alleged incidents that happened between May and June 2023.

The indictment accuses Ivey of sharing identifying information about minors in online chat rooms and trying to set up kidnappings and sexual assaults by providing addresses and photographs of children to others online. It also says Ivey knowingly possessed explicit videos and images of minors.

According to court documents, Ivey used online platforms, including Telegram and Instagram, to communicate with others about harming children. The indictment accuses him of sending explicit images, sharing children’s personal information and offering financial incentives to those carrying out acts of abuse.

Separately, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office announced in a February 20 Facebook post that Ivey was indicted in Jasper County on additional charges, including one count of cruelty to children in the fourth degree, two counts of trafficking of persons for sexual servitude and eight counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony. The sheriff’s office says Ivey was initially arrested in June 2023 after an investigation into his alleged involvement in a dark web human trafficking site.

The case remains active.
