Former Jones County High band director arrested on sexual assault charges

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The former band director at Jones County High School has been arrested.  Robert Corey Tanner is charged with three counts of sexual assault.
School authorities notified the Jones County Sheriff’s Office on September 3 that they had evidence of an inappropriate relationship involving a student.  All of the charges stem from incidents that happened at off-campus locations.
The investigation is ongoing and investigators are still collecting evidence from many locations in Middle Georgia and in Atlanta. 
The 32-year-old is being held without bond at the Jones County jail.
According to a news release from the Jones County School District, Tanner resigned this week from his position.
