Former GCSU Pitcher Antonini Dealt to Dodgers

Former Georgia College lefthanded pitcher Michael Antonini (2006-07) was recently traded from the New York Mets farm system to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization for major league shortstop Chin-lung Hu.

Antonini finished the 2010 season with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. The former All-American went 2-3 with a 5.11 ERA in six starts, compiling 25 strikeouts over 37 innings. Prior to the call-up, he was 6-9 with a 4.32 ERA in 23 starts at Double-A Binghamton (N.Y.). Antonini is now listed on the Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes roster.

Hu has spent parts of four seasons in the big leagues for the Dodgers, including 65 games in 2008. In 2010, he saw time in 14 games, hitting .130 with a double among his three hits, one RBI and two runs scored.

Antonini is one of four former Bobcats playing for MLB affiliated minor league teams in 2010. Brandon Durden was with the Colorado Rockies Double-A Tulsa team, Andrew Reichard was with the San Francisco Giants’ Single-A Augusta squad, and Alex Burkard was with the AZL Angels, the Los Angeles Angels’ affiliate.
