Five people shot at downtown lounge in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of persons shot at Grant’s Lounge in downtown Macon just after 2:00 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release.

Deputies found three people shot when they arrived at the scene. Two others were also reportedly shot but had already been taken to a local hospital by personal transportation.

The release says an altercation started outside the lounge. A black male wearing khaki shorts and a white t-shirt started firing a gun into the crowd. Deputies located an individual fitting the description near the scene. Deputies detained and transported him to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division for questioning.

The suspect gave deputies a false name at the scene, but he was later identified by investigators as 37 year-old Jamel Ramon Nolton. Nolton has been charged with five counts of Aggravated Assault. He was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and booked on the charges.

The victims that were shot in the incident are 22 year-old Nikeum Guyton,  26 year-old Marquise Carswell, 18 year-old Laterry Kendrick, 21 year-old Devan Williams, and 26 year-old Jascent James. All are from Macon. Carswell and Guyton were treated and released. James, Williams, and Kendrick are listed in stable condition, according to Bibb County Sheriff Officials.
