First Quality facility to bring 115 jobs to Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – First Quality Packaging Solutions has chosen Macon as the home for its new manufacturing facility.

The company will create 115 additional jobs in the area and plans to invest over $68 million within the next 5 years.

“We’ve got it all and it’s great to do business in Macon-Bibb County,” Mayor Robert Reichert said.

The company already has an existing plant that manufacture baby products in Macon.

“This is our flagship facility. So we need to establish credibility in the marketplace, credibility with customers, the company’s general manager Don Deubel said.

The company will create plastic packaging for food and food services. Deubel says they were sold on the opportunities Macon-Bibb had to offer.

“The incentive package that we were able to negotiate with the local officials and state officials that ultimately was our decision to locate here,” Deubel said.

“It’s a double message here. Not only is this 115 new jobs that will be created in our community and a significant financial investment in the community, it comes from an existing industry that was recruited and located here 5 years ago,” Mayor Reichert said.

Deubel says the company considered different states, but decided Macon was the most ideal location.

“Expansion and frankly long-term success is going to be determined on how we do here out of the gate. We have to do it right. We have to do it right the first time,” he said.

Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner, Chris Carr says “By taking advantage of Quick Start, the nation’s No. 1 workforce training program, as well as having direct access to skilled, ready-to-work individuals and a thriving business network, it’s clear that Georgia is the right spot for FQPS’ newest operations. I am confident they will find success in Macon.”

Renovations have already begun on the expansion project. Deubel says he hopes the project is complete by spring of 2016.
