First Presbyterian Football team tackles home improvement

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Player’s on the First Presbyterian Football team in Macon are tackling home improvement this summer.

They out down their helmets and picked up paint brushes.

Players spent the day ‘Rebuilding Macon’ and fixing up an elderly man’s home on Addison avenue near Mercer University Drive.

First Presbyterian Assistant Coach Shane Self says it’s not a requirement for players, but they try to do something like this at least twice during the summer.

“This is a great opportunity for these guys to come out into the community and to help somebody in need and get away from X-box or wherever else they’re going to do,”said Self. “Just to get out here and work and help, and we’ve been doing that for a few years. It’s been really good for them.”

The boys repainted the side of the house, put a fresh coat of paint on the front porch and they’ll be back next week to fix the man’s screen door.

The owner says his house is the third house on that street they’ve done work on.
