Fire destroys Ivey mobile home

IVEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An Ivey woman is recovering at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after she was severely burned during a house fire.

Ivey Police Chief Brian Stuckey tells 41NBC it happened on Morningside Drive on Saturday around 1 p.m. A women living at the mobile home was severely burned on her arms, legs, and buttocks.

Chief Stuckey says the woman was disabled and was using an oxygen tank inside the home.

J.R. Smith lives next door to the charred mobile home. He saw the home engulfed in flames.

“It’s tragic for anybody to loose their home in a fire and everything they have,” says Smith. “The only thing they have is the clothes on their backs.”

The Gordon and McIntrye fire departments responded to the fire, but firefighters were unable to save the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ivey Police department.
