Fire Destroys House At Detroit Art Installation

DETROIT (AP) – Fire has destroyed another house in the Heidelberg Project outdoor art installation in Detroit.

Sources report that the fire burned early Thursday at the structure known as the Penny House on the city’s east side. There was no immediate word about a possible cause.

Earlier this month, a building known as the “House of Soul” was destroyed by fire and Heidelberg Project officials announced plans for security cameras and other measures. Last month, a fire burned the Heidelberg Project’s Obstruction of Justice House for a second time.

Tyree Guyton, creator of the Heidelberg Project, transformed his decaying, crime-ridden neighborhood into an interactive sculpture park.

The latest fire comes on the same day as the Heidelberg Project’s 4th annual fall fundraiser.
