FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A social media threat referencing a possible shooting at Peach County High School led to a large law enforcement presence and an arrest earlier this month, according to a news release from the Peach County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the release, sent on Monday, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) contacted the Peach County Sheriff’s Office on February 27 about information received from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about a post on Instagram related to a threat about a possible shooting at Peach County High School.
The sheriff’s office deployed all available law enforcement personnel to the school, including School Resource Officers, Patrol Deputies, Criminal Investigation Division, and Command Staff, “to ensure the safety of the students and the staff as a proactive measure,” according to the release.
