FBI offers $20K reward, authorities continue search for missing Putnam woman

EATONTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information on the whereabouts of 87-year-old Shirley Dermond.

According to Putnam County Sheriff Richard Sills, Shirley Dermond was last heard from on May 1st. Her husband 88-year-old Russell Dermond’s body was discovered decapitated on Tuesday, May 6th.

So far, Sills says there are no solid leads on Shirley’s disappearance. Also, Russell’s head still has not been located.

Sills tells 41NBC 10 FBI agents, and 60 deputies from surrounding counties sheriff’s offices searched a six acre wooded and vacant area across from the couple’s Lake Oconee home on Wednesday. Sills added that search did not yield any clear evidence.

Shirley Dermond is described as 5’2’’ and 148 lbs. She has grey hair and blue eyes. If you have any information on her disappearance, call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at (706) 485-8557.
