Family receives new home from Habitat for Humanity
The house is located in the Lynmore Estates neighborhood. With the non-profit’s help, Williams will pay the mortgage without interest.
“I am so grateful to have been chosen for this opportunity,” Joni Williams says. “My family is so lucky to have a new home.”
Habitat for Humanity’s next campaign is called “Change from Every Dollar.” It plans to raise $477,000 for ten new homes.
“We want to increase our goal from last year and help even more deserving families,” Campaign Chair Larry Brumley tells 41NBC News.
Since 1986, Macon Area Habitat for Humanity has provided a decent place to live for 134 adults and 235 children. Organizers say this is not a handout, but a way for families who pre-qualify through volunteer hours to purchase a new home with an interest-free mortgage.
The 2015 Campaign will end in early May.
