Family has funeral for the eight-year-old killed inside a Fort Valley home last week
WARNER, ROBINS (41NBC/WMGT)- The family of eight-year-old Jai’mel Anderson held his funeral Monday afternoon at Warner Robins C.M.E. Church.
“We are very saddened that he is gone, it is very upsetting and very sad, family is very upset,” explains Melissa Hubbard, Jai’Mel’s aunt.
David Williams is a cousin of Jai’mel. When he heard about the little boy’s death, Williams tells us it reminded him of his own son.
“He’s a young guy and it would tear my heart apart to see my son die a senseless death,” expresses Williams.
According to the autopsy, the Peach County Coroner tells us, Jai’mel died on January 6 to gunshots to his torso.
Six men have been arrested in this case. Jeremy Jackson, 24; Kristian Wipfel, 22; Antonio Garvin, 20; and Tevin Sams, 21, are all charged with murder. They had their first appearance Monday morning in Fort Valley Magistrate Court Judge. Each were denied bond.
Jai’Mel’s stepfather, Dejad Williams, is charged with possession of cocaine and a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond has also been denied.
Dennis Eason, 25, was arrested last week in Birmingham, Alabama. He is also facing murder charges. Fort Valley is awaiting extradition.
“We pray for the people who committed this crime, they are losing a loved one as well,” Williams tells us.
Jai-mel is survived by his parents and three siblings. His family says he will forever be in their memories.
