Falcons get training by counselor after improper question

ATLANTA (AP) – Atlanta Falcons say secondary coach Marquand Manuel asked the inappropriate question “Do you like men” to Ohio State cornerback Eli Apple during the NFL’s annual scouting combine in Indianapolis and that he and the rest of the staff have received training from a counselor approved by the league.

Falcons coach Dan Quinn says all coaches had a seminar Monday “regarding social training.”

Quinn says there was additional training for Manuel.

The coach says Manuel asked the question during a conversation between he and Apple and not in the team’s formal 15-minute interview.

Manuel issued an apology in the statement released by the team. Manuel says the training was “very valuable in learning from this situation.”

The Falcons apologized on Friday, when Quinn said “this is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about.”
