Escaped prison inmates found in Telfair, Laurens Counties

MCRAE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Escaped prisoners from Thomas County Prison in Thomasville, Georgia were found in Telfair and Laurens Counties.

Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson said Joshua Fountain and James Waldren ran away Tuesday morning during a boat ramp and road clean up. The sheriff’s office and the McRae-Helena Police Department were notified of the escape and were monitoring Fountain’s contacts in the area. A resident reported seeing Fountain in the area to the sheriff’s office Friday. Deputies pulled the car over and took Fountain into custody.

24-year-old Anna Fountain from Eastman was in the car with him. She was arrested and faces charges for harboring a fugitive.

The Georgia Department of Corrections website says Fountain was serving 10 years for robbery.

Sheriff Steverson added Waldren was found Friday morning in the Poplar Street area of East Dublin. Investigators said Waldren was serving time for burglary.
