Ellis Willing to Lend a Hand on the Road to Macon-Bibb Consolidation
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Former Macon mayor C. Jack Ellis is speaking out about the controversial campaign flyers found on several cars throughout the city earlier this week.
Ellis says he has no idea who made the flyers, but thinks the city has to show a unified front heading into the new consolidated government.
He says the flyers, that included racial slurs urging people to vote for black candidates, feed into the constant divide in Macon, and says it’s time it to take a stand.
“We have to condemn whoever says it that type of stuff we have to stand and condemn and hopefully denounce it with the strongest terms we possible can and that’s why we are here,” Ellis said.
Ellis also congratulated his opponent, Macon-Bibb Mayor-Elect Robert Reichert, and says he’s extending a hand of friendship, willing to help with any issues in the city.
