Ellis Concedes in Macon-Bibb Mayoral Race
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb mayoral candidate C. Jack Ellis conceded to his opponent on Tuesday night, after a run-off election places Robert Reichert in the lead.
The race for the top spot in the new consolidated government was the second battle between the former mayor of Macon and current mayor of Macon and once again, Ellis lagged behind. In a concession speech at Overtyme Bar and Grill, he thanked his supporters for their persistency.
“There’s something bigger than winning, this was something bigger than ourselves,” he said, “which we were dealing with here, so we can’t get down on ourselves, we have to continue to find ways to make a difference in this town and this county.”
When asked about a political career in the future, Ellis told 41NBC ‘never say never’.
