Electric bus company gives free rides to MTA passengers

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An electric bus company is working to obtain a contract with the Macon Transit Authority (MTA).
The Build Your Dream bus compan0y, known as “BYD,.” gave free bus rides on Friday. MTA passengers were given the complimentary rides on the Macon Mall route.

MTA bus driver Vernon Franklin has been operating city buses for nearly nine years. He says the electric bus has a more advantages than the gas buses.

“This particular unit very quite and comfortable,” explained Franklin. “It rides smooth. It just glides across the bumps. It’s a very comfortable bus.”

The BYD electric bus can hold an eight hour charge. Franklin says the bus does have a slow pick-up, but he likes the leather seats. He adds all of the gauges are easy to reach.

BYD will be giving free bus rides again Monday to MTA passengers.
