Deputies identify elderly Macon woman killed in her driveway

UPDATE: Deputies identify the elderly woman killed by her car as 84-year-old Joan Bennett.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal accident that happened Monday afternoon on Embassy Court.

According to witnesses, 84-year-old Joan Bennett had just pulled into her driveway when she fell getting out of the car. The vehicle rolled backward over Bennett.

Witnesses say that the vehicle was still running and in gear at the time of the incident.

Bennett passed away from her injuries at Coliseum Northside Hospital.
