EF-0 tornado confirmed in Macon Monday morning

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Monday morning’s severe storms brought an EF-0 tornado through parts of North Macon.

The tornado first touched down just to the north of Vista Ave in Macon, tracking northeast. It would pass through a few neighborhoods along this track, damaging several homes. Some streets crossed include Inglewood Place, Marjorie Place, Highpoint Drive, Sugarloaf Drive, Pierce Drive West, Pierce Drive North, and Gwinnett Ave. Not long after that the tornado crossed over Pierce Ave, continuing until it crossed over Riverside Drive just to the north of its intersection with Corbin Ave. It then grazed the far southern portions of Amerson River Park before crossing the Ocmulgee River. It then lifted not long after crossing the river. The max wind speeds are estimated to be about 85 mph, making this a high end EF-0 tornado. The total path length was about 2 miles with the path reaching as wide as 290 yards.
