Eastman announces Special Election for Council District 5
Special election set for November 5 in Eastman following Council District 5 vacancy.

EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The City of Eastman has announced a special election to fill a vacancy in Council District 5, following the resignation of the Honorable Jermayne Hamilton.
The special election is scheduled for November 5, 2024, with all voting taking place at Eastman City Hall, according to a notice posted Wednesday by the City of Eastman on Facebook.
Qualifying for the election will be held at Eastman City Hall, located at 333 College Street, from September 3-5. Qualifying hours are Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Only residents of Council District 5 are eligible to qualify, and the qualifying fee is set at $90.00.
Absentee voting by mail begins on Monday, October 7, and ends on Friday, October 25. Advance voting is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 15, and will continue through Friday, November 1, with hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additionally, Saturday voting will be available on October 20 and October 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On election day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. 7 p.m. All voting for the special election will occur at Eastman City Hall.
