EASTMAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Eastman Fire Department has received a $25,700 grant from the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation.
The funding will help the department purchase bunker gear for full-time and volunteer firefighters, according to a news release.
“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Dublin for awarding us this grant,” Chief Scotty Whitten said. “The new bunker gear will fulfill a critical need within our department and allow our first responders to better help the people of Eastman during emergency situations.”
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, established in 2005, supports first responders and public safety organizations nationwide, providing life-saving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and disaster relief. The foundation has awarded more than $83 million in funding since its inception.
More than 70% of the funds raised for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation come from the generosity of Firehouse Subs guests and the restaurant brand, the release stated.
