Early Voting Open in House Special Elections

ATLANTA- Early in-person voting has begun in the special elections to fill two state House seats.

Secretary of State Brian Kemp says special elections will be held on Feb. 15 to fill vacancies in Districts 136 and 178. Early in-person voting ends on Feb. 11.

The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is Feb. 11 and mail-in ballots must be received by the voter’s county elections office by the close of polls on Election Day.

The elections are non-partisan and have no party primary.

The election for District 136 will occur in Crawford County and parts of Bibb, Houston, Lamar, Monroe, Peach and Upson counties.  Republican Robert Dickey of Musella, Republican Judye Sellier of Fort Valley, and Democrat Sharon Howard or Byron are running.  The seat was left vacant by the death of Tony Sellier.  His wife, Judye Sellier, is running to replace him in the state legislature.

The election for District 178 will occur in Brantly and Pierce counties and part of Wayne County.
