Domestic Abuse Survivor Speaks Out

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Studies show most people know someone who’s a victim of domestic violence.

October is domestic violence awareness month.

One former victim, Felecia Randall, is telling her story. Randall says she wants to encourage women who are living with an abuser, to leave.

These days Randall and her son, Jacovian Maxwell share laughs and hugs. Now, they enjoy each other without any distractions from her ex-husband.

She says the physical pain was brutal, but the emotional scars remain with her children.

“The children and I would be sitting around in the living room and whatever, and we would be having fun and then we would hear his truck pull up and the whole atmosphere in the house would change,” said Randall. “I mean our attitude would change, Oh my God.”

Her oldest son says words cannot describe what he witnessed, as his mother was being viciously attacked by her husband

Jacovian Maxwell said the memories of watching his mother being abuse is painful. Although, he was an eyewitnesses to the abuse. He admits he still finds it hard to believe he watched his step-father draw a weapon, on his mother and threatened him and his siblings.

Randall recalled one of the most horrific instances for her and her children, while living in their home.

“I go to the bedroom, and I go to sleep. He comes in probably like two hours later and he wakes me up with a shotgun in his hand and he hit me with the shotgun and knocked me off the bed,” said Randall. “I got up. I’m trying to get up, and he’s got the shotgun to my temple. And he’s saying to me you’re going to die tonight.”
