Deputies: Monroe County man arrested after search reveals 50 pounds of marijuana
A Monroe County man was taken into custody on Monday after deputies say they conducted a search warrant and found drugs and multiple firearms.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Monroe County man was taken into custody on Monday after deputies say they conducted a search warrant and found drugs and multiple firearms.
According to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies executed the search warrant at a home on Old Dames Ferry Road and found 50 pounds of marijuana, more than 1,200 grams of wax marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, THC-infused vape cartridges, multiple firearms, scales, a money counting machine and a large sum of U.S. currency.
Larry Akins is charged with manufacturing wax marijuana, trafficking marijuana, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of Schedule I drugs (mushrooms).
Akins is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bond.
