MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Macon man faces multiple charges after deputies say he set vehicles on fire and shot at neighbors’ homes on Northridge Drive.
On Tuesday, November 5, deputies responded to a domestic dispute involving a man with a gun, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office incident report and a post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page. Deputies arrived and reported finding multiple vehicles on fire and neighbors’ homes damaged by gunfire. One neighbor reported seeing the suspect, later identified as 51-year-old Scott Malkowski, pouring gasoline on her vehicles and igniting them.
At least six vehicles, including a 2023 Nissan Rogue, 2010 Mercedes-Benz, 2015 Mercedes-Benz, 2016 Mercedes-Benz, 2018 Nissan Rogue, and a 1997 Dodge 1500 pickup truck, were damaged by fire and gunshots. The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department responded and extinguished the vehicle fires, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies say Malkowski, who had reportedly been locked out of his home by his wife for safety concerns, tried to re-enter before eventually being taken into custody.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots outside their homes, and deputies later recovered a rifle at the scene.
Malkowski is charged with simple battery-family violence, arson in the first and third degrees, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property. He’s being held without bond.
