Deputies investigating stabbing in South Bibb

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault incident that happened just before 1:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to reports, Bibb Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at Grady Street and Houston Avenue. When deputies arrived they found 46 year old Freddie Lee Travis in the vehicle with a stab wound to his chest. Travis was driving a vehicle that struck a utility pole.

Officials said during the initial investigation, they discovered the stabbing incident occurred at an address in the 4200 block of Houston Avenue. It’s reported that Travis and 52 year old Eddie Eugene Slatton had some type of altercation outside the address before Travis was stabbed. Investigators say Slatton lives at the address where the incident took place.

Slatton was taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division for questioning. He’s charged with Aggravated Assault and is currently at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. No bond has been set.

Travis was taken to a local hospital. He is in stable condition.
