Deputies investigating a string of burglaries in Macon
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office are now looking for the suspects responsible for a string of burglaries in Macon early Tuesday morning.
All of the incidents happened within about an hour. Witnesses told investigators they saw three men wearing black clothing trying to use a pry bar to break inside the businesses.
After reviewing security footage, detectives on the case believe the same three individuals are responsible for all of the break-ins.
The first took place just before 5:00 am at the Family Food gas station on Sardis Church Road. The suspects took an unknown amount of money along with 40 cartons of cigarettes.
From there, investigators say they hit several businesses on Mercer University Drive including: Food Mart, Tom’s Food Mart, Raceway and the N Salon and Nail shop.
Investigators say first the suspects tried to break into the Food Mart’s safe but were unsuccessful. The store owner told them nothing was missing.
Then at the Tom’s Food Mart, the suspects tried to get into the store’s ATM and gambling machines but store managers say they were also unable to do so.
They did take an undisclosed amount of cash and the registers themselves over at The Raceway.
Investigators are unsure right now if the burglars took anything from the N Salon & Nail shop but say the suspects did manage to get inside the business.
Witnesses described the three men as slender black males wearing black clothing and two of them had dreadlocks.
The three men may have been driving a dark colored Hyundai Tucson with a “Drive Out” tag.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Investigators at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
