HOUSTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Matt Moulton will serve as the Houston County Sheriff after winning against challenger Arthur Lee Harris.
America’s longest serving sheriff, Cullen Talton, previously held the position of Houston County Sheriff for nearly 52 years. Sheriff Talton died on October 19.
Sheriff Talton endorsed Moulton in January of 2024.
Moulton was the Republican nominee after beating challengers Will Kendall, Jimmy Dunn, and Slate Simons.
Moulton spoke about what he plans to do when he’s elected, “Just assuring the personnel that we do have, that they’ve got a good leader in place that they can get behind and follow and trust. Getting our man power, personnel, and numbers back up. Get full staffing and then target the violent crime that we’re seeing in the youth.”
