DECISION 2013: Jones Says District 4 Needs Transparent and Accountable Leader

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Mallory Jones believes in order for the new consolidated Macon-Bibb County government to get off to the right start it needs to earn the faith and trust of the public.

“I’m a firm believer in transparency and accountability. Transparency without accountability doesn’t mean anything, so we’ve got room for improvement there in both governments,” said Jones.

If elected as the District 4 commissioner, Jones plans to focus on common sense solutions. He says that will help foster growth and allow leaders to tap into Macon’s potential.

“The sad thing is we’ve never tapped into it, the good news is, it’s still here,” said Jones.

He thinks growing industry in Macon-Bibb County begins with tapping into big resources like the Middle Georgia Regional Airport.

But first, he says the voters need to decide if they’re ready to elect new leaders.

“We’re at a crossroads… will this be the year that our city finally starts to tap into that potential, or will our great city continue to decline,” said Jones.

In his district, and across the county, Jones also plans to focus on reducing crime.

Jones is a real estate agent. He’s also been a major advocate for animal welfare in Macon and Bibb County.
