Decision 2013: Ficklin Says District 2 Residents Concerned About New Government

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon City Councilman Henry Ficklin says he’s been walking the streets in District 2 and the residents have some big concerns about the new government.

“I talk to people who are really just, you know, with a big question mark, what is going on in Macon,” said Ficklin.

Ficklin says many people have said they are nervous about tax increases and what’s going to happen to their services when Macon and Bibb County merge.

He believes part of the reason so many are concerned is because they haven’t had time to digest the new government. That’s why he believes he should be elected.

“I tell them that they need people with experience on there who’s going to to continue to look out for the benefit of the people, the taxpaying public,” said Ficklin.

Ficklin also says his record on city council proves he’s the man for the job. He pointed out that during his earlier years on council, he was one of the council members who sponsored the ordiance that put surveillance cameras in convenience stores.

Ficklin has been serving on city council for more than two decades. Currently he is a member of both the appropriations and public works and engineering committees.
