Decision 2013: District 2 Candidate Schlesinger Says Macon-Bibb Needs “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs”
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Councilman Larry Schlesinger says when Macon and Bibb County merge he wants to represent the residents of District 2.
When asked what his top concerns are for the residents of District 2 Larry Schlesinger said safe neighborhoods and jobs are big priorities.
He says while bringing big businesses to Macon-Bibb County is a great thing, leaders also have to make it more easy for entrepreneurs to grow a business from scratch as well.
“We need a one stop shop where anyone who is looking to set up a business can do so as quickly as possible,” said Schlesinger.
He also says it’s important that the local government supports the Bibb County School System. Schlesinger believes having an educated workforce will bring more jobs to the area, and vice versa.
“We need an educated workforce and in order to get there we need jobs, jobs, jobs,” said Schlesinger.
Schlesinger believes in order to stay competitive the new commission needs to find ways to incentivize, so big businesses will be attracted to the area.
Schlesinger is currently serving his second term on Macon City Council. He is the President Pro-Tem and Chair of the Ordinances and Resolutions Committee. He also serves on three other committees.
