Deadline tonight for healthcare marketplace signups

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Affordable Care Act has a major deadline today.

If a person does not enroll today they won’t be eligible for January 1, 2015 health insurance through the health care marketplace.

However, they still can enroll in the health care marketplace through February 15, 2015 and will not face a penalty.

After February 15, those without insurance from any provider will be forced to pay a penalty.

The penalty is $325 per person for the year (162.50 per child under 18) or two percent of your yearly income.

The maximum penalty is $975 per family.
