Dazzling Duo ‘Poppin and Rockin’ Bibb County Classrooms

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you’ve have never seen or heard of Poppin’ P.J. and Rockin’ Wendie, ask your student about them. After all, they show up weekly in half of all Bibb County classrooms.

The team started poppin’ and rockin’ their way into classrooms three years ago, when a principal noticed P.J. and Wendie had a unique way to teach kids about making good decisions, good morals, and keeping good grades.

Poppin’ P.J. with his black hair mohawk, and Rockin’ Wendie with her tie-dyed up-do, started recording what they call ‘Virtual Values’, and presenting them to schools throughout the county. They have since gone from one school, to teaching nearly half of all Bibb County schools.

“Each and every month, it’s one virtual value,” Rockin’ Wendie explains. “And the four weeks in that month, we give them examples of how they can show that particular value.”

This week, the team is giving a live performance at Union Elementary School. They are showing the kids examples of what bullying looks like, and character traits to not be a bully. Through music, skits, and interactions with the students, Poppin’ P.J. and Rockin’ Wendie are breaking down the issues, so even fourth graders like Micah Cornelius can easily explain it.

“Bullying is really bad, because it can hurt people’s feelings. And when you get bullied, you will probably get mad, and then you have to tell the teacher,” Cornelius explained.

Good advice.

Rockin’ Wendie also made mention of how in only three years, they have seen an incredible response toward what they are doing, it has even started gaining some national attention among other school districts.

“P.J. and I both, are completely dumbfounded about how big this is becoming, and how much need there is for it.”
