TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Danville man is facing DUI and other charges after a head-on crash seriously injured three people early Sunday on Georgia 19 in Twiggs County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

GSP confirmed Tuesday that a trooper responded to the two-vehicle crash around 1:15 a.m.

Investigators say 26-year-old Dawson Chapman was driving a Ford F-150 northeast when he failed to maintain his lane while going through a left curve.

A Mercedes-Benz driven by a 24-year-old woman was traveling southwest. GSP says the woman swerved right to avoid the truck but was unable to do so.

The F-150 continued across the centerline and struck the Mercedes head-on near the fog line, according to GSP.

GSP says the woman and her two passengers, two 26-year-old women, were seriously injured.

GSP says Chapman was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He is charged with DUI alcohol less safe, failure to maintain lane and serious injury by motor vehicle.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Chapman was not listed in the Twiggs County jail’s online inmate records.
