Crawford commissioners to decide on ‘bulky’ trash pick-up service

ROBERTA, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Crawford County commissioners are deciding a new service for residents who want to get rid of bulky trash.
County manager Pat Kelly says the government is considering a contract with Advanced Disposal to provide a curbside bulk trash pick up. Doing so would increase bills for taxpayers.

Kelly says the monthly service would be less than a quarterly service.

“If they come in monthly, it’s $45,000 which sounds more, but we get three times the service and it actually costs 76 cents per service at that point. From a service aspect it’s half as much,” Kelly said.

Currently, the county has a location where people can dump items.

Commissioners voted to table the discussion on the curbside pick up until they consider the cost involved. Kelly says it’s possible the commission can decide not to move forward with any curbside service at all.
