Covenant Rams begin second season under head coach Chris Oxford

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Covenant Academy Rams finished with a 5-5 record in Chris Oxford’s first season as head coach. This time around, Oxford has had an entire summer to get to know his squad and prepare them for what he hopes is a strong 2015.

The Rams started off with decent offensive numbers last season, putting up just over 32 points on the board. That fizzled toward the middle of the season and dropped to just 20 a game. Coach Oxford is hoping to get a boost by using 6’1″, 263 lbs. Khristian Tate as a tailback.

The defense allowed 23.3 points a game for the season. It was a performance that saw some strong defensive showings, but also saw a few games where the squad struggled to keep the ball out of their own end zone.

Dawson Christian will be Covenant’s first opponent. They’ll be on the road for that game, which is on August 21st.
