MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two women were found dead inside a home on Friday, according to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

He tells 41NBC the bodies were discovered after a family member hadn’t been able to get in touch with anyone in the home, located at 884 Prince Street.

That family member went to the home and tried to get in through a window but was unsuccessful. The Macon-Bibb Fire Department arrived and forced entry.

That’s when 76-year-old Bertha Jackson and 65-year-old Lenora Maynard were found dead.

According to Jones, fire investigators believe the women likely died from carbon monoxide poisoning. Jones says both women were found near a wood burning stove in the living room.
