Coroner: Man dies in Friday night crash on I-75 in Macon

Coroner Leon Jones says the crash happened around 11 p.m. on I-75.

UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol has provided more information on a deadly crash Friday night in Macon.

According to GSP, a trooper responded to mile marker 161 on I-75 South just before 11 p.m.

The preliminary findings show the driver of a Lexus failed to maintain his lane and entered the right shoulder, struck a guardrail and overturned.


MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT ) – A 24-year-old man is dead after a crash Friday night on I-75 in Macon.

According to Coroner Leon Jones, Joseph Fulton Portis died after the 2003 Lexus LS 430 he was driving crashed between Eisenhower Parkway and Rocky Creek Road.

Jones says his family has been notified.
