Coroner: Macon man dies in early morning house fire

Coroner Leon Jones identified the man who died as Joseph Maye. He says Maye's body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for an autopsy.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 78-year-old man died in an early morning house fire on Monday.

That’s according to Coroner Leon Jones, who says the fire happened around 7:45 a.m. at 365 Reid Street. Jones says the man, who he identified as Joseph Maye, was pronounced dead just after 8:30 a.m.

Jones says Maye’s body is being sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for an autopsy.
