Cooler temperatures will begin 2025

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The wind is finally shifting direction tonight allowing colder air to filter in to begin the new year.
This Evening
It’s been a mostly sunny and warm day for Middle Georgia with temperatures reaching 70 degrees or above for much of the region. The wind has also been pronounced as gusts from the west-southwest have cleared 30 mph for many. It will remain breezy into tonight as that wind shifts more towards the northwest at about 7-12 mph, gusting between 15 and 20 mph. Those going out late to watch fireworks to ring in the New Year should bring an extra layer as temperatures leading up to midnight will be in the upper 40s. Overnight lows will drop just below the 40 degree mark for most of the region.
Tomorrow
The first day of 2025 will be rather seasonal as temperatures mainly peak in the upper 50s under sunny skies. Wind will flow from the northwest at 5-12 mph, gusting to about 17 mph through the afternoon.
It will be a colder night as temperatures are expected to drop below freezing for most of the region. Wind will remain out of the northwest but at only around 5 mph.
