Partly cloudy skies are what most of Middle Georgia has seen this afternoon with heat indices pushing into the triple digits. The southeastern half of the region is also seeing some isolated storms. These will continue through this evening and into tonight before diminishing. Overnight lows will drop into the lower 70s for most of the region with a northeasterly wind coming in at 5 mph.

The cold/stationary front that arrived in Middle Georgia late Sunday night will finally clear out of the region heading into Tuesday afternoon. It will be cooler as a result of this front with highs mainly reaching the mid to upper 80s. Mostly cloudy skies are likely, however the overall odds for rain tomorrow are quite low. A bit more sun is possible during the afternoon hours. Ambient wind will be out of the east-northeast at 10-15 mph, gusting over 20 mph.

The Tropics

Two areas of interest in the Atlantic Basin both have a 40% chance to develop into a Tropical Depression in the next 7 days. One is south of Cuba heading towards the Gulf of Mexico and the other is just off the western coast of Africa. The one towards the gulf will likely not be of concern to the Peach State, however the one off the west coast of Africa (a Cape Verde storm) most certainly will warrant monitoring.
