Convicted sex offender will spend 30 years in prison

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Houston County Superior Judge Katherine Lumsden sentenced Matthew Caleb Pierce to 30 years in prison without parole.

Pierce will also remain on sex offender probation for the rest of his life. 

According to District Attorney George Hartwig, a jury found Pierce guilty of six counts of aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation, two counts of sexual battery, one count of sexual exploitation of a child, and two counts of controlled substances in November.

The judge heard emotional testimony from Pierce’s family and the victim’s family.

Pierce’s attorney plans to file an appeal next week.
